Couch to 5k in 2 months!
Ok so I came across a program that says they can have you go from couch potato to running a 5k in 2 months. I’ve decided to give it a try. Those of you who know me well know my exercise “good intentions” never seem to quite work out. Apparently the path to unfit is also paved with good intentions.
I’ve decided to chronicle my journey (so to speak) here. If anything, the possibility of having to relate my impending failure, might at least shame me into following through this time
Basically you only have to run 20mins, 3 times a week. First week you start out walking briskly for 5minutes, then alternate jogging for 60 seconds then walking for 90 seconds. The times are then increased each week till….BAM! 3 miles! Easy. Right??
So here we go…..
Week #1/workout #1:
Hannah is joining me on this program and I knew we were off to a great start considering she is eating cookies and drinking milk while doing our pre-run stretches. Gracie, Faith, and Cecil are doing their own kind of running program and we started out with them promptly leaving us in their dust. We are clearly not the runners in the family. But HA! That is changing soon my dearies, then we’ll see who is leaving who in their dust!!! MUWAHAHAA!!! Oh…uh…sorry got distracted, back to our run.
I’ll have to admit by the end of the first 5 minutes my whole body was aching and I was out of breath, and that was just the walking part! But we kicked it up and made it through our alternating walking/jogging for the full 20mins feeling quite accomplished (almost dead, but accomplished nonetheless). We’ll just see what our muscles have to say about it tomorrow.
Next update coming Saturday which is workout #2 of week #1.
